Is there a trailer for Knives Out?
The trailer introduces the audience to the Thrombey family, all of whom were spending an evening with their father, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) on the night of his death.

As detectives question, the eerie presence of another onlooker gets their attention, before it is revealed private investigator Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) is also consulting on the case.

He tells the family: “Ladies and gentleman, I would like to request that you all stay until the investigation is completed.”
Joni (Toni Collette) questions why this is before the audience sees Walter (Michael Shannon) shout to the detectives: “You think one of his family killed him? Is that what you’re suggesting?”

Blanc suggests the family enjoys “twisting the knife” into one another before Chris Evans’ Ransom Thrombey starts to tell his entire family to “eat s***” in an explosion of expletives.

While there is clearly a funny tone in the trailer, there is also a violent streak throughout the movie, as Blanc finally tells the family: “I suspect foul play and I’ve eliminated no suspects.

“It’s a twisted web and we are not finished untangling it.”

The cast is pretty massive, and each of the actors are megastars in their own right.

The star is Daniel Craig, as Benoit Blanc, who is aided in his quest by detectives played by LaKeith Stanfield and Noah Segan.

The Thrombey family is played by various big hitters: the victim, Harlan Thrombey, is played by Hollywood heavyweight Christopher Plummer.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Shannon play his children, Linda and Walt, and Don Johnson and Riki Lindholme play their spouses, Richard and Donna.

Toni Collette plays Joni Thrombey, widow of the third Thrombey child, and Katherine Langford plays her daughter, Meg.

Linda and Richard’s son, Ransom, is played by Chris Evans, while Walt and Donna’s son, Jacob, is played by Jaeden Martell.

K Callan plays the silent matriarch of the family, Great Nana Thrombey, while Ana de Armas and Edi Patterson play Harlan’s nurse and housekeeper, Marta and Fran.

What is the plot of Knives Out?
The plot is, as Blanc puts it, a “twisted web,” clearly using the incredible works of Agatha Christie as an influence.

Harlan Thrombey is found dead on the morning after his 85th birthday party, and all his family are staying in the home with him.

Detectives seek to find out what has happened and are joined by the mysterious private investigator Benoit Blanc to investigate.

The official synopsis reads: “When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate.

“From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death.”

Blanc must find out whether the old adage is really true: “With friends like this, who needs enemies?”
